Call 811 before you dig!

Texas One Call is a free service provided to customers for utility locates. Please call 811 from your phone before any excavating anywhere in the state of Texas. There are multiple utilities buried in the ground such as electric, natural gas, water, sewer, phone, and cable TV. This service enables you to call 811, give them information on where you are digging, and Texas One Call will notify every utility in the area to mark their lines with paint an flags. Please call at least 48 hours prior to digging. If you see flags and paint in your yard, please do not remove them as work is probably happening on a utility line without you being aware. These markings are very important and needed in knowing what is underground. Removal of theses flags could result in someone striking a line underground and causing an outage that could take hours or even days to fix. As a reference, utility marking colors are as follows:
  • Red - Electric
  • Yellow - Natural gas
  • Blue - Water
  • Green - Sewer
  • Orange - Communication (Phone, cable TV, fiber optic)
  • Purple - Reclaimed water (irrigation systems)
  • White - Area to be excavated
